AWARE Mood Matters Adult Programme
 
Staff, parents and friends of Shimna Integrated College are invited to the Mood Matters for Adults event being hosted in the college on Thursday 6 April from 6:30pm to 8:30pm 
 
What is Mood Matters? 
Mood Matters is an award winning educational programme, developed and delivered by Aware since 2000. 
 
The aims of the programme are to: 
• Raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health. 
• Highlight the risk factors for, and symptoms of, stress, anxiety and depression. 
• Help to reduce stigma by conveying the message that depression is an illness and not a sign of weakness. 
• Provide information about treatments available and promote self-help strategies for regaining and / or maintaining good mental health. 
• Provide participants with relevant literature to reinforce learning and provide a future point of reference. 
• Signpost participants to sources of support. 
 
 
 
Mood Matters for Adults Event
• Focuses on breaking down stigmas around mental health.
• Discussion looks at triggers for stress, signs and symptoms and how to manage.
• Group will learn the signs and symptoms of Anxiety and Depression and appropriate treatments for these.
• Teaches self-care techniques which promote resilience and a healthy mind.
• Aims to help adults learn about depression and recognise the role of self-help strategies in improving mood.
• Highlights the link between thinking, behaviour and feelings.
